Commanded 9th Soudanese Bn. Egyptian Army, in the Dongola and Nile Expeditions (twice Mentioned in Despatches) including the battles of Firket, Atbara (wounded) and Omdurman; served in the South African War, severely wounded at Spion Kop (Mentioned in Despatches).
