Son of the late Brig. Gen. Henry Francis Brooke, of Ashbrooke, Brookeborough, Co. Fermanagh, and of Mrs. Henry Brooke, of Hampton Court Palace; husband of Barbara Brooke, of Hampton Court Palace. Educated at Wellington College and R.M.C., Sandhurst. Served in the Waziristan Expedition, 1895 (Medal with Clasp); Malakand Expedition, 1897-8 (Medal with Clasp); Siege of Tientsin and Relief of Pekin (Medal with Clasp); attached as Adjutant to the Chinese Regt. and qualified in the Chinese Language, 1900-03. Acted as Adjutant of Militia and Special Reserve of the Lancashire Fusiliers Depot, Bury, 1907-10.
