Son of the late J. R. Macpherson, B.D. Parish Minister of Dengwall, Ross-shire, and of Margery Louisa Macpherson, of 28, Braid Crescent, Edinburgh. A graduate of Edinburgh University (M.B.Ch.B.). Received a commission in R.A.M.C., Aug., 1914. In January, 1915, he resigned his Commission for a Commission in Seaforth Highlanders. Held record for hammer throwing of Scottish Universities, and the Gold Medal of the Inter-Territorial Sports, Sydenham, 1910.
