This German 'Tornister' pack was picked up in the Ypres sector in 1915 by Regimental Sergeant Major John Brough DCM of the 1st Battalion, North Staffordshire Regiment, and brought home with him to England while on leave. Brough was later killed in action on 21 March 1918.
